The Old Pacwest Bigfoot YouTube Channel…

woods

Ten years ago, I started the YouTube Channel Pacwest Bigfoot. Yes, it is still there with all the great stories and interviews, and half the subscribers are still hanging in there.

So, after hearing from so many of you, it’s time to bring it back- well, most of it at least…

A technical issue stopped me from continuing with the channel. Google is a bit complicated to deal with, especially when they change algorithms to impede an election cycle; it wasn’t the only thing affected. Actually, many, many brands were hurt on April 29th, 2020.

I would know this because I practiced SEO and web design for a decade and worked with many brands and businesses online. Many of them felt the effects of big tech, and what ugliness it can wield upon people, even accidentally.

It was not a fun day to experience, especially since it was my birthday!

I spend a lot of time practicing photography today. While I am out there in the woods, I wish sometimes I could see something like my older boy had seen that evening. Where I live is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the great Cascade mountain range.

But, like anywhere else in the Pacific Northwest, some days you can’t get out to take photos, not to mention work is work. I work full time. So, what do I do on those days when I am at home, and the kids and wife are busy doing their thing? Well, I write.

I have been asked online, in a store while shopping, on the phone, and by family why I am not writing those short stories of Bigfoot anymore. The simple answer is: I don’t know why. Life can get busy. I will also admit I was a bit bummed about losing my PWB YouTube channel in the manner I did.

Google is no real friend of ours; remember that.

I did try again a year ago with another channel; however, it wasn’t the PWB, and so it seemed my efforts were halfhearted. At least that is how I felt about it. So, once again, I put it aside.

However, I can’t help myself when it comes to writing and Bigfoot! Especially after last fall. My son, who is in the Army now, had an encounter, and he was not alone; he and a friend ended up in a serious situation up a mountain while hunting last October.

I had never seen him so afraid in my life. He was the kind of young man who camped alone, fished alone; he had no problem in the woods of the Pacific Northwest at any time of day or night, alone.

Now, his only fear in life is being alone in the woods. The encounter was scary, yes, but also amazing in a Bigfoot enthusiast way. He never really bought into the “Bigfoot” thing, although he enjoyed my stories and interviews on the old channel.

Now, he has eyes in the back of his head, he says, any time he is out there fishing, hunting, or camping, and never alone.

Also, I miss writing and hearing from folks like you. When I wrote a short story about a person’s encounter, they told me it helped them process their experience. It helped them get on with their life. In some cases, it helped them get back out there and enjoy the Pacific Northwest again.

I still get the emails today, the stories of encounters here and there.

I was one of the first channels like that on YouTube. I am not boasting; I am just saying that it was fun to be one of the first. It gave people a voice and a reason to share their own insights, stories, and even research via the digital world.

No, I am still not a fan of some in the Bigfoot community. There are many great folks, yes, but there are those who think they “know it all” about everything Bigfoot, and if your ideas, hypotheses, or even encounters do not feed their ego, well, you know…

I do not go to festivals, well, maybe one near me. I keep to having fun and enjoying the food and banter. I do have a few voices I listen to online and offline; I will share more about them in another blog post.

Will I take these stories to YouTube? Most likely, but for now, the stories are here, and I am looking for more from you. So, if you ever feel like sharing your Bigfoot encounter and allowing me to turn it into a short story, I would appreciate it!

I don’t have a set schedule for the stories to be posted. I still have nearly forty saved and ready to write about. This is all about your experience and my desire to write; that’s all, nothing more, nothing less.

I take a massive creative license with the backstory of an encounter, including scenery and a person’s background. However, the events during the actual encounter are based on the actual events you share with me.

I am not here to be a so-called expert; I only want to share my enthusiasm for the subject in my own unique way. Creating short stories has helped me with my own experiences, and it has for those I have written for as well. It is a pretty therapeutic process, for sure.

So, with that all said, enjoy the stories. I hope to bring them to YouTube soon; I am just trying to figure out the technical aspects of how I am going to revive Pacwet Bigfoot on that platform.

Will I do interviews? Maybe; I am not sure about that yet. I am more of a writer than an interviewer, to be honest, so most likely not. But until then, God bless, and enjoy the stories!

David.
